I'm a lawyer. Anyone who reads this (at least initially) will already know that, because no one else is likely to be visiting this blog otherwise. I'd like to use this forum to talk about the law, my contribution to its practice, and perhaps a few other observations along the way. I started this blog about a year ago, with a completely different intention in mind, and so the name doesn't make much sense. Anyway, I like it.
This is what most people think of lawyers, or at least what the nice ones think of us:
Hired guns, ruthless and cruel, we take no questions and take no prisoners.
But none of this represents my philosophy (well, except for the part about paying by bill on time). And I'm certainly no Chuck Norris, physically or politically.
Instead, I like to encourage settlement and minimize conflict. I do mainly transactional work, real estate, wills, corporate matters, etc. Occasionally, I continue to stick my hand occasionally in the litigation cave. The trick is to avoid this:
Whatever the outcome, my partners and I try to provide our clients with guidance on the consequences of their decisions, both in court and in the community at large. More often than not, I like to think that this attitude speeds resolution and reduces attorneys fees.
I don't care if I'm ever on TV. I don't need to make a name for myself. I want to earn a living, give my client's good counsel, and enjoy my family.
I will never be Chuck Norris, literally or figuratively.
